Core
Ab wheel
Master the ab wheel for a stronger, more defined core.
How to perform.
Follow the sequence — setup is half the lift.
Kneel on a mat with the ab wheel directly under your shoulders, hands gripping the handles with your arms fully extended above your head.
Engage your core and take a deep breath to brace your midsection, keeping your body in a straight line from head to knees.
Slowly roll the wheel forward by extending your arms, lowering your body toward the floor in a controlled motion while maintaining core tension.
Pause briefly when you feel your core is fully extended but still under control, without letting your hips sag or your lower back arch excessively.
Drive through your hands and engage your abs to pull the wheel back toward your body, returning to the starting position with a strong contraction.
Exhale as you complete the movement and return to the upright kneeling position with arms extended.
Rest for a moment before repeating for your desired number of repetitions.
Common mistakes.
Fix these first — they cost reps, kilos, and joints.
- Allowing your hips to sag toward the floor during the extension, which transfers stress to your lower back instead of keeping tension in your abs.
- Extending too far beyond your control, leading to a collapse rather than a controlled return to the starting position.
- Rolling forward too quickly without bracing your core, which reduces effectiveness and increases injury risk.
- Holding your breath throughout the movement instead of breathing with the motion.
- Not keeping your shoulders packed, which places unnecessary strain on your shoulder joints.

The primary movers do the work; the stabilizers keep the path honest.
